Tips on How to Increase the Security in your ID Card

By Catherine Williams of Safe-Card ID

Nowadays, it is easy to produce an identification card with a logo and name on it. Some people are even paid just to produce fake id cards. The following are the tips on how to add security measures on your id cards for maximum security.

1. The graphic design process, you may find it helpful to divide your card up into a grid. Place the larger and fixed elements into the card first and determine whether the card will be vertical or horizontal. Remember to leave a placeholder for the badge slot punch if there will be one on your cards.

2. It is proven the white cards are easier to duplicate, so it is recommended to use color in your card. Avoid extremes such as too dark and too light colors. Bright colors work best. You can also use different colors to distinguish different levels of access or achievement.

3. To further increase the security of the card, have a clear, colored, and if possible, large photo on your identification card. In that way, it will be visible to everyone especially to the security guards who will be checking it always.

4. Choose a good font or fonts that are easier to read and which are pleasing to the eyes.

5. It is also advised to incorporate a hologram on the card. The protective overlay makes it difficult for counterfeiters to reproduce.

6. If you can afford an advanced printer, consider a printer that uses reverse image printing technology. These printers can produce a highly secured and durable identification cards.
