The Photo ID Card Provides Security

By Catherine Williams of Safecard ID

In this age of terrorism it is vitally important that large organizations are protected by effective security measures so that only authorized personnel are allowed access to sensitive areas. The problem with any single system is that it is open to abuse and there have to be back up systems in place to ensure full security. No matter what security measure is taken there are always loopholes that make that single system fallible. As many systems as possible should be used if total security is required by the organization or institution.

Using a photo ID card is not a good security measure in itself. Although used by passport control in every country it is open to abuse and there are even websites on the internet offering to alter photographs and retouch temping hole in the system and that passport control is way behind the times in terms of security in an organization that allows terrorists and others free passage and the ability to slip through the net because of it. It is also prone to human error as a checker has to be completely alert at all times and take the time to study the photo and the presenter carefully to make sure that person is who he says he is. Too often such ID’s are given a cursory glance because of the restraints of time or because the checker is at the end of a shift or is tired. To be an efficient proof of ID it needs to be used with other means of ID in order for it to be effective.

One of the best Id card printers is the zebra card printer which offers a range of printers that are designed to cover every type of card that people may require from simple ID cards for such things as student or employee ID cards that are minor security risks and are a means of identification alone and do not allow entry into any secure establishment unless they are supposed to be there. The security card printers are much more secure. They can be customized to suit the issuing company and can be contact or non contact smart cards. These cards can incorporate the full range of security measures applicable to cards thus making them secure. These printers are again a good investment the small less secure printers being suitable and affordable for small businesses and the larger more secure printers are suitable for large organizations and institutions where security is paramount to the safe running of the organization.

As with all security devices there are loopholes that will be abused by the unscrupulous people who want to gain access to any building. All security measures should be used in conjunction with each other to ensure a totally secure environment but as with everything that is the best solution it is also the most expensive solution and with all companies having to show restraint in their budgets it is hardly surprising that security measures are often neglected. Because the security works and there are none or few issues arising; the company feels it is often an unnecessary expense.

I wonder how many movies and TV shows have been made about those who commit a crime by getting past elaborate security systems.
