Security Features for ID Cards

By Catherine Williams of Safe-Card ID

There are numerous ID card printers that are present in the market. Each one of them has their own unique feature designed to meet the requirements of companies or organization. High-end printers are capable to print large volumes of ID card printers. Some can even perform lamination and incorporate security features.

The following are the security features that can be added on your id card:

Magnetic strip encoding – Having magnetic strip let you store more information on your id card. It needs a card reader in order to decipher what is stored on your card. A special type of printer and its corresponding ID card software is needed in order produce this type of ID card.

RFID or Radio Frequency Identification Device - RFID chips are placed into the card. Unlike magnetic strips, RFID doesn’t need to be scanned. Information is obtained through radio frequency.

Smart card technology – Smart cards are highly recommended to those who are seeking for top of the line security features. The advantages of having smart card are smart chips can store enormous information but not endangered by magnetic fields.

ID card technology keeps on improving as days passed by in order to provide solutions to the existing safety and security problems, and to the problems that may arise in the future.
