Proximity Card By Catherine Williams What is a proximity card? It is a card that contains lots of informations. Most common uses of this card are for ID, payment cards, and as substitute for keys. Having prox card alone won't give you any output. It needs to have a card reader, an access control panel and a computer or database in order to function. The card reader is needed in order to decode the informations which is stored inside the prox card. Upon decoding, it is compared to the informations stored on the database. If it matches, the access control panel will give you the authorization for your action.
