In every police department, officers need a secure, easy to use identification system. Many departments now use PVC cards for providing officers and support staff with the identification needed throughout the work shift. There are many PVC printers that are out in the market. New models are small but it print faster and more reliable than old models. An entry level id card printer will provide a custom printed id card in 30 seconds or less. The card can be printed with all the necessary information required for department identification. It is necessary to have an indicator of the level of work and employees designation so that it is easy to create an identification that provides authorization for various tasks. To choose the best id card printer system for in house card production, the following points should be considered. 1. The card durability must not be taken for granted. The cards that will be used extensively or are constantly swiped for access may need an overlay to provide extra protection and additional secure coating for longevity. 2. The maximum printing capacity or the card volume must also be taken into consideration. Printing more that what is allowed may affect the printing quality or worst, it could ruin your id card printer. The expected card output and the speed at which they are needed will help determine the printer that is needed. If only few cards are needed, entry level printers will do. If you need to print large volume of id cards, you can choose for high-end printers. It is capable of performing without failure under a wide range of condition 3. The last but not the least, where the card will be used. If the primary usage of the card will be for visual identification, a basic id card printer will work for your needs. If the card will be used for multifunction tasks, an upgraded printer may be needed. Basic printers can provide id cards with photos and bar code, wherein, high-end printers provide better quality print and there are security features that can be added, both on the printed card and on the printer itself. Printer options at all higher end levels and some mid line printers include magnetic stripe encoding, smart chip encoding and other embedded options.
